W ith the engine warmed up & running in nuetral they should put out 14.5 charging volts, which can be measured at the battery with a common voltmeter. If the output is 12 or 13 volts it is not enough to keep the battery fully charged. Conversely, if the voltage is too high, say 15 to 16 volts, it will cook your battery.
